Many people wonder if they need tax attorneys-tax law specialists, if you will, or if they are capable of handling their taxes on their own. Each person must make their own decision, but there certainly are some advantages to using tax attorneys- tax law specialists- for your taxes. Here are some of the basics:
The first advantage to using a tax attorney is that attorneys know the tax code. Information that you would need to pore over for hours to understand is second nature to tax attorneys. Tax law is complicated, but these attorneys have received the training required to keep you within the law with regard to your taxes.
Tax attorneys may also be able to save you some money. Because they know the tax code so well, attorneys can often find many deductions that you might not. Tax laws change each year, but tax attorneys receive training each year to ensure that they’re up to date on the tax code, and they know how to take advantage of each and every deduction. In fact, preparing your taxes may actually be more cost effective if you use attorneys. Tax law changes that give you deductions can often save you more money than you’ll pay in attorney’s fees. And, the fees you pay your tax attorney are tax deductible, making using a professional even more cost effective.
All of us fear an audit, and one way to avoid one is using tax attorneys. Tax law specialists are less likely to make a mistake, and the IRS may even be less likely to audit a return prepared by an attorney. But, if you do face an audit, your tax attorney will be there to support you and provide details about how your returns were prepared.
It’s also important to remember the time you’ll save by having an attorney prepare your taxes. Your time is worth money, and if you’re a busy person, it may be far more cost effective to pay an attorney, who can prepare your taxes quickly, to do so rather than spend many hours preparing them yourself. And, there’s a great deal of peace of mind associated with being able to hand the cumbersome task of preparing taxes off to someone else; especially since you can trust that the attorney is well prepared to do a good job.
Most of us have some fear of doing taxes and getting audited. And one of the simplest ways to ease your mind might just be using a tax attorney.
